Struggling to create a great opt-in offer? Here’s how I’m breaking one awesome guide into helpful little pieces.
I’m coming at you today with not a big update but just an idea that I want to share with you.
One of my top goals right now is to create an opt-in on my niche services site and to start building an email list.
But, one of my biggest challenges in working toward my specialty has been limited time. I’m still serving my general web design clients and taking on new inquiries to pay the bills. My time is definitely not completely 100% focused on my new niche.
So what I’ve been trying to do is market my specialized services really efficiently, to combine efforts as much as possible. That’s no different when it comes to creating a great opt-in offer.
I’m talking about the “freebie” or “giveaway” that a subscriber receives in exchange for joining my email list. I want to to be seriously helpful, so I decided to create an “SEO Basics Guide for Wedding Professionals.” My idea is that this guide will be a great basis of understanding for my future SEO tips.
Breaking It Down
There was a lot that I wanted to include in it, but I don’t have hours every week to write. So, I decided to combine the creation of my opt-in offer with the writing of my bi-weekly blog posts.
First, I outlined what I wanted to include in my free SEO Basics Guide. Then I broke it down into pieces that made sense as standalone blog posts. Here’s what I mean:
In four writing sessions, I will have created a seriously in-depth, awesome guide to SEO. I will have also created four excellent blog posts that will start building up the content on my website and help the site rank in search.
Win-win? Double dip? I think so.
But… All of Your Opt-In Content is Already Available Publicly?
I know some naysayers out there might not like the idea of an opt-in offer containing the same content that’s already available publicly. But personally, I think there’s a lot of value to having the information you need packaged up into a nice PDF guide all in one place. I’ll be curious to hear what my niche audience thinks.
In the future, I’d love to add more tips to the guide. But to just get started with version 1, this is going to be a pretty high-value offer.
As of today, I am now one blog post away from creating my SEO Basics Guide, and I know it will be a great resource.
